Shamik- Channeling India album

My new album, Channeling India is out now! It is my first album as a producer and I'm so pleased to finally share it with you!  It's an 11 song journey through vinyl samples over hip hop and electronica beats. I brought back a suitcase of records from my India trip last year, and that's where the inspiration came from. My brother, Vivek Shraya is also featured on this! Making art is more about the process for me these days, and I quit my job 9 months ago to do music full time! I needed to take the leap to get this album done! You can download it for free below, and head over to my Bandcamp for more info on the project. Much love.

The new Babe Rainbow album titled Falling Apart came out earlier this month on Kinky Beggar. It's stellar and wraps up what he calls a trilogy of releases. Much respect.

New Common album titled Nobody's Smiling is out tomorrow. Feelin the new single!

My new album, Channeling India is out this Tuesday!! Here is the lead track titled Kuyile Kuyile.

SW004: Souns- 11 11 rmx

Fourth release on Sensing Waves comes from Souns out of the Sunshine Coast, BC. The original source material comes from a live/improv performance at an event called "environments / 11:11" some years ago on nov 11, at Rahda on Main St. in Vancouver. The event came through inspiration of expanding on the positive energetic potential of the event date and the number. The performance was improvised live using hardware effects, samplers, various audio objects, guitar, and prepared CD's. The remixing and editing of this recording would happen around the same time of year, nov 11, in the years that followed. You can purchase it below or on iTunes.

The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz

Eye-opening documentary on Aaron Swartz. Definitely worth 2 hours of your time.

-- The film follows the story of programming prodigy and information activist Aaron Swartz. From Swartz's help in the development of the basic internet protocol RSS to his co-founding of Reddit, his fingerprints are all over the internet. But it was Swartz's groundbreaking work in social justice and political organizing combined with his aggressive approach to information access that ensnared him in a two-year legal nightmare. It was a battle that ended with the taking of his own life at the age of 26. Aaron's story touched a nerve with people far beyond the online communities in which he was a celebrity. This film is a personal story about what we lose when we are tone deaf about technology and its relationship to our civil liberties.
