What Difference Does It Make?

Here's a great film by Red Bull about the ups, downs, and behind the scene moments of being a musician. It's shot in New York and goes in and out of street busker footage, interviews with stars, and the selected artists from the Red Bull Music Academy. I really enjoyed it, and it features clips with Rakim, Q-Tip, Giorgo Moroder, Brian Eno, Erykah Badu, Skream, and more. Enjoy!

Jnana's new EP is out today on Oakland label Street Ritual! I did vocals on Switch The Tip, and Alliekat shared her gifts on Rooftop Nocturne. Grab the EP/ listen below!

Jnana has been making waves out of Calgary with a release on Tycho Records, and a collaborative EP with LA producer, Orphic. He also plays bass and guitar (from his punk and ska background), which he incorporates in his music. The vibe ultimately becomes psychedelic glitch hop with heavy 808s and crunked out bass. Enjoy!

Much love and respect.

The legendary and prolific J Dilla would have turned 40 last week. All over the world there were huge outpours of well deserved tributes to the Detroit producer and rapper. Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest just put out this heart warming song and video to Jaydee as well. Enjoy. Much respect.

Heinali- AIR EP

Amazing ambient piano EP from Oleg Shpudeiko aka Heinali outta Kiev, Ukraine. It is emotional, thought provoking, and has a nice feeling of stillness. It came out in 2012 on Fluttery Records.

I seem to be posting a lot of music fit for winter lately..but this is all I'm listening to on those cold days. Enjoy.

An old pal of mine, Paul Stewart released a lovely mellow EP last winter. I've been listening to it a lot this week, especially the title track. There's so much talent out here in Vancouver! Have a listen and spend some time on his Bandcamp. Much respect.

Fresh from his release on ASL, here's a free download from Vancouver's Autem. Beautiful deep house vibes on this one.

Love his work.

Thing - DUBT038 & DUBT039

Hands down my fav producer these days is Thing outta Estonia. His Footworks album has not left my phone since it's release, and I've been dropping his tunes in all my sets since last summer. Thing keeps putting out quality dubwize, autonomic DnB vibes, with haunting sub melodies on his own Dubthing imprint..and here's 2 more solid EP's. Hopefully someone brings him out to Canada soon! Big respect.

Gangways: I Mean, We Could EP

My fav EP right now...Gangways outta London on New York label, Cadence Collective. More perfect winter music! Enjoy.

Zoo Age

Every week I come across so much great music rising out of Vancouver! Multi-talented act, Zoo Age (formerly Tour de Fours) have a wonderful album out today.

The duo is Chris von Szombathy & Tyler Greentree. They write, record, and produce their own material. Together they shine on this album! Tyler's impressive vocal range and harmonies are blended nicely with lots of space over clever synths and layered sound design. It is a very diverse release and the kind of album you should listen to in one sitting. Their story telling goes from infectious melodies on Diana to hypnotic, cinematic vibes on Heavy Metals. Enjoy and feel Zoo Age channeling the pop gods of past, present, and future. Much respect.

Metafloor- Poppin Bands

Dope heater from Sub Chakra boss, Metafloor outta Calgary. Had this on repeat all week, and it's also on a sweet footwork compilation on Ground Mass. Much respect.

Axiology - Follow The Glow

Big love to the Axiology troupe outta Victoria who used my Free Spirit tune in their new promo video!
