Yes yes yes...
--R.G.R.#3 Dan Solo - Prism Face - E.P.
Dan Solo returns with some music for the club after taking time to work on his critically acclaimed downtempo project, Sanctums. There's a little bit of everything on this solid 8 track ep and includes some top notch remix work from a crew of his best cohorts in Western Canada's underground music community.
The Prism Face ep features 2 original club ready bass music jams at 160bpm that straddle the lines between cloud rap, trap, dubstep, & juke leaving plenty of space in the mix for the tunes to breath out your system with crisp percussive elements and plenty of emphasis on the low end of the spectrum. Wax Romeo turns in a mid tempo boogie funk infused remix adding a vocal sample & impressive sexified synth lines turning it into soulful slow jam to get you loose, DJ Cure & Mr Geography take it into the realms of future juke/techy footwork, with Hexvgrm banging out a big room trap bomb for those who like it heavy, Crimson keeps it deep with a stripped back deep dubstep tune, and closing out the release Self Evident provides a chopped up skittery take on the vocal/synth and produces a modern 134bpm club music joint for the heads.--

The new EP from Sanctums outta Calgary just dropped. These two lads are responsible for one of my favourite albums of this year. Backtrack to that LP here. You'll definitely get lost in it. I played Quarantine numerous times at summer gigs. Sanctums continues to be in a league of their own with slick maneuvering through mid tempo flows. Their previous LP was an emotional journey through the haunting side of electronica and hip hop. They stay true to their deep melodies on this EP with more beautiful layers and true vulnerable music. There's many times where you feel like you could be watching a film while listening...take a look at the video for Posthumous below to see what I mean. The EP is up for free download or pay what you like. Big love to the Calgary Rinseout & Modern Math family.
This looks dope...

Great tune...cool video. Much respect.
--Fancy Mike returns with his long-awaited follow-up to Madison Square Gardner, and after two years of adventures such as spending a year teaching in France, sharing the stage with some of his favorite artists and writing his first novel, the evolution in his sound is impressive.
Making appearances on Mary B. James are pianos, sitars, steel drums, horns, rich synth melodies, bone-rattling bass and more but overall this is a complete work, linked together spaciously into a kind of Midwest Minimalism. Very much worth the wait.

Out to the homie Killa Kela featured in the new 2013 Ford Focus ST commercial. The clip was well shot with a cool back and forth human voice sounds versus the automobile. Kela has been showing his versatility for a long time now, so it's great to see him keeping it fresh. Much respect.
Victoria's Rhythmicon just dropped Prometheus tune...plus some killer remixes from a talented bunch of BC producers. The remix EP showcases a different side of electronica on each version with a nice touch from every producer. Much respect.
